METABOLISME
METABOLISME
ATP powers most cellular works Fermentation is a partial
degradation of sugar that occurs without the help of oxygen
Waste product of respirations CO2 and H2O are the very substances that chloroplasts use as raw materials for photosynthesis, thus the chemical elements essentials to life are recycled but energy is not. It flows into an ecosystem as sunlight and leaves as heat

Anabolisme i. proses asimilasi/ penyusunan/ pembentukan molekul yang
lebih kompleks dari molekul yang sederhana
ii. Proses anabolisme seringkali memerlukan energi reaksi endergonik.
Contoh-contoh:
Homeostasis: the steady-state physiological condition of the body
Stadium I, protein, karbohidrat dan polisakarida dipecah menjadi molekul pembangun
Molekul Pembangun
Katalis : „a chemical agent‟ that changes the rate of a reactionwithout being consumed by the reaction
(i) Inorganik: misalnya ion logam seng (Zn), tembaga (Cu) dan besi (Fe)
Cofactor may be bound tightly to the active site as permanent residents or they may bind loosely and reversibly along with the substrate
Cofactor functions in various ways but in all cases they are necessary for catalysis to take place
Enzyme inhibitors
i. Competitive inhibitorsreduce the productivity of enzymes by blocking substrates
from entering active sites
ii. Noncompetitive inhibitorsdo not directly compete with the substrate at the active site
They binding to another part of enzyme molecule change its shape
and so
- the active site unreceptive to substrate or
- leaving the enzyme less effective at catalyzing the conversion
of substrate to product
Autotrofi
• Nearly all the cells in our body break down sugars for ATP production
• Most cells of most organisms harvest energy aerobically, like slow muscle fibers
– The aerobic harvesting of energy from sugar is called cellular respiration
– Cellular respiration yields CO2, H2O, and a large amount of ATP
INTRODUCTION TO CELLULAR RESPIRATION
Respiration
• Respiration banks energy in ATP molecules
• Cellular respiration breaks down glucose molecules and banks their energy in ATP
The process uses O2 and releases CO2 and H2O
• ATP powers almost all cell and activities

REDUCTION
Redox reactions release energy when electrons “fall” from a hydrogen carrier to oxygen
• NADH delivers electrons to a series of electron carriers in an electron transport chain
– As electrons move from carrier to carrier, their energy is released in small quantities

6.12 Chemiosmosis powers most ATP production
• The electrons from NADH and FADH2 travel down the electron transport chain to oxygen
• Energy released by the electrons is used to pump H+ into the space between the mitochondrial membranes
• In chemiosmosis, the H+ ions diffuse back through the inner membrane through ATP synthase complexes, which capture the energy to make ATP
• Chemiosmosis in the mitochondrion

6.15 Fermentation is an anaerobic alternative to aerobic respiration
• Under anaerobic conditions, many kinds of cells can use glycolysis alone to produce small amounts of ATP
– But a cell must have a way of replenishing NAD+
• In alcoholic fermentation, pyruvic acid is converted to CO2 and ethanol

Fungsi utama :
pengubahan energi potensial(dalam bentuk makanan) menjadiATP
Struktur Mitokondria

Fermentasi alkohol Fermentasi asam laktat
