&s you know, one o) the many areas in which there are vast improvements in :indows Aista is security. ven so, i) youNrethe only one who has access to your computer in your home, having to log on each time you turn on the computer, mayseem like overkill. "ortunately, you can con)igure :indows Aista to automatically logon with your account when you turnon your computer.

3) youCre running :indows Aista )rom within a limited user account, you know that you can use the 8un &s &dministratorcommand to open an administrative #ommand Prompt. (o do so, you right click on the #ommand Prompt shortcut andselect the 8un &s &dministrator command. Fou then see the % dialog bo which prompts you to type in the

&dministrator password. :hile this is a simple enough operation to carry out, you can shorten it by one step.

bo, click the &dvanced button, :hen you see the &dvanced Properties dialog bo, select the 8un &s &dministrator checkbo, as shown in "igure #. (hen, click / twice, once to close each dialog bo.

Jow, when you click the #ommand Prompt shortcut, youCll immediately see the % dialog bo which prompts you totype in the &dministrator password.

&s you know, activating your license in :indows Aista is a big deal. 3) you ever )eel the need to check the status o) licenseon your computer, you can o) course go to the 7ystem screen by pressing O:indowsOBreak and check out the :indows

&ctivation section to see i) it is activated properly. 4owever, Microso)t included a little AB7cript tool that will provide you abit more in)ormation about your license.

(o launch this little AB7cript tool, press O:indows8 to access the 8un dialog bo. (hen, type slmgr.vbs !dli in the /pentet bo, and click /. 3n a moment, you will see a :indows 7cript 4ost dialog bo, like the one shown in "igure D. &syou can see, in addition to in)orming you that your copy o) :indows Aista is indeed licensed, it also gives you youredition, tells how you acEuired it

:indows Aista contains a little AB7cript tool that will provide you with in)ormation about your license.

(o enable this )eature, launch :indows plorer, press the O&lt key to toggle the Menu Bar on, pull down the (oolsmenu, and select "older /ptions. :hen you see the "older /ptions dialog bo, select the Aiew tab. (hen, under the

&dvanced 7ettings scroll down to the bottom o) the list and select the %se #heck Boes (o 7elect 3tems check bo. #lick/ to complete the operation.

Jow, when you hover your mouse pointer over the )iles in :indows plorer, a check bo will momentarily appear neteach )ile as you move past it. 3) you select the check bo, it will remain net to the )ile and the )ile will be selected. Fou cancontinue selecting )iles in this manner until youCve selected all that you want, as shown in "igure . FouCll also notice thatthere is a check bo in the Jame column header. 3) you select that particular check bo, all the )iles in that )older will be
